Bye bye Houston, TCU up next

Houston lost its shot at the BCS with style.  Southern Miss won the C-USA title 49-28.

That knocks Houston out of the BCS.  It was such a bad loss, it might even knock the Cougars out of the at-large pool (not that it matters -- they wouldn't get picked).  A blowout like this could cause a precipitous fall.  They might even fall far enough to help out Michigan.

Now, the clock is on TCU.  If the Frogs win today and can move up two spots to 16th in the BCS rankings, they would automatically qualify for the BCS as the highest-rated non-AQ conference champion.  TCU is up 21-3 in the first half as I type this.

If TCU is unable to move up two spots, it opens the door for a Big 12 team (Bedlam loser, especially if Oklahoma State, or Kansas State) or even Boise State.

The day is still young.  This could change again.

You're saying by beating Nebraska that means you deserve a BCS bowl game......get real and don't be such a homer.

Michigan really hasn't beaten anyone?

What about the blowout against Nebraska, what about OSU who beat Wisconsin?

I find it very interesting that only a few days ago this site was touting Kevin Sumlin as one of the best 10 coaches of the year.  Houston was the overwhelming favorite to win the Conference USA title and get a BCS berth.  I suggested that Larry Fedora should have been on that list and was ridiculed.  I have to reiterate that Coach Fedora is a great coach and should be touted as one of the best coaches of the year after their destruction of Houston in their own hometown.

I believe that Coach Fedora will have learned from the losses that his team had against less substantial opponents in Marshall and UAB and will take USM to even loftier levels if he remains at Southern Mississippi.  That is something that I doubt, but I expect USM to continue being an extremely tough opponent year after year.

I would love to see USM against some of the other non-automatic qualifiers such as TCU and Boise State because their history shows that they are competitors, not just a recent fluke.

and now that va tech lost, tcu is all but assured a top 16, and since stanford was idle, boise st, will have to see if they did enough to jump put bosie st at #4 and if they do that will be an extra 13 million for the mountain west, becuase as jerry pointed out, id you are #3 or #4 then you are assured a bcs spot

What people are forgetting is that if Michigan St loses, they'll have 3 losses.  Michigan has 2.  Whether they beat them or not isn't the only factor.  If that were the case, move Iowa State up in front of Oklahoma State.  I mean...they did beat em and all..

well the win by baylor likely sews up a spot for tcu, sicne baylor was one spot ahead of them and if wisconsin wins, that will likely clinch it becuase msu is 15, so right now tcu is likely rooting for wisconsin to win and georgia losing also helps tcu, becasue georgia was 14

Trust me I'm not crying I'm just stating facts, there is no doubt UM has vastly improved but they are not even close to being one of the two best teams in the BIG let alone a top ten team in America, don't kid yourself if they make it to a BCS game it's all about the money. You are right OSU will be in the Gator Bowl and they don't even deserve that,no team with a 500 record should be able to play in a bowl game but once again it's about the money. If UM fans are hanging their hat on a four loss ND team that is pretty weak don't you think?
